You Can Help.
The Eating Disorder Foundation offers a broad range of educational and support
services at little or no cost.
That means we rely on donors such as you.
By contributing $25, $50, $100, $250 or more, you’ll be helping those
suffering from eating disorders and their families and, just as importantly,
working toward prevention.
Caring. Accessible. Responsive.
If you're here, chances are you already know that eating disorders are the number one killer
of all mental illnesses, a shocking fact that remains unrecognized by society at large.
The Eating Disorder Foundation exists for one reason: to change that.
We are uniquely
positioned to help those who suffer from eating disorders and their families, to create an
environment that fosters sustained recovery and to provide information that's vital to
prevention.
We provide high-quality, carefully focused educational and support services,
and welcome your help and involvement as we continue and grow our activities,
many of which take place in or originate at our new facility,
A Place of Our Own®.

Dear
Friends of the Foundation
Opportunity
During the 10 years I worked as a private practice therapist, my colleagues and I often talked about the
need for additional, long term support for those struggling with eating disorders, as well as for their
friends and families. We’ve all seen the problem. After receiving higher levels of essential in-patient care,
men and women are discharged from the structured environment of a treatment center to find themselves
facing an abyss of fear and uncertainty as they try to transition back into everyday life. We often saw the
same need for extra support with people in individual therapy requiring more care than one session a week
could provide.
One goal of The Eating Disorder Foundation is to be a complement to all forms of treatment by offering creative
ways to help strengthen what has been accomplished in those settings. In so doing, we hope to play a role in
reducing unacceptably high relapse rates among those who struggle with eating disorders. Our new support
center, A Place of Our Own, provides our community the opportunity to
meet this goal.
EDF is committed to providing a safe environment for those who struggle with eating disorders to form
long-term supportive connections, learn new coping skills and to be with other individuals who are focused
on recovery. Health and healing do not happen in isolation, and recovery is not a one-stop destination. It’s
an on-going process. A Place of Our Own exists to facilitate and
nourish that process.
We invite you to visit A Place of Our Own, to familiarize yourself with
our programs and activities and to learn more about how you can become part of the EDF
community. Our doors are open.
